A smart energy solutions company, Ignitis, which manages the largest electric vehicle (EV) fast charging network in Lithuania, Ignitis ON, announces that it has installed the first 400 kW EV charging station in the Baltics, allowing EVs to be charged in approximately 7 minutes. According to Andrius Šeršniovas, Head of EV Network Development at Ignitis, this is a historic event and a significant achievement for the company, showcasing the rapid technological advancement in the EV charging market. The extremely powerful charging station is in Vilnius, near one of the busiest arterial roads, next to the Gariūnai Market and a fast-food restaurant, Hesburger.

According to A. Šeršniovas, today's launch of the most powerful charging station in the Baltics is part of Ignitis ON's ambitious strategic plans to expand the EV charging infrastructure in the Baltics, which will be based on smart solutions, making it convenient for EV drivers while promoting energy efficiency and contributing to environmental sustainability.

“The most powerful 400 kW EV charging station will allow drivers to charge their EVs from 0 to 80 percent in just 7 to 10 minutes. Such charging speeds bring us closer to the idea which, not too long ago, sounded like utopia that EV charging will take as long as refuelling a car that uses conventional fuel,” commented the Head of EV Network Development.

However, the electric mobility expert points out that, currently, only commercial transport, such as electric trucks, is capable of fully utilizing the charging station's potential and speed. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that, soon, more EVs will be capable of utilising 400 kW charging stations. “This is our investment into future solutions, a step forward,” says A. Šeršniovas.

The powerful charging station can charge all electric vehicle models intended for the European Union market that have a fast-charging CCS (Combined Charging System) connector. The charging station can charge two EVs simultaneously 200 kW each.

On 21–23 September Ignitis ON invites EV owners to charge their vehicles at a 50 percent discount at this charging station, which is in Gariūnų aklg. 4, Vilnius.

Charging stations with the same capacity are planned to be installed in Western Lithuania and other locations next year.
